Overview of the Varidesk Pro Plus 36

One of my favorite variable standing desks is the Varidesk Pro Plus 36 which has been getting very positive reviews on Amazon over the last couple of years and with good reason. It is an excellent entry level standing desk that has all the features you need to get your work done while standing. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why it’s our best rated standing desk converter.

Features

The Pro Plus 36 offers a variety of features which make it a great reason to have it as your first standing desk. Let’s jump in and take a look at the various features.

Two-tier design

Having a two level set up for your standing desk is very important because it supports your hand and eyes (along with your posture) at the correct heights to ensure you don’t get any back or neck strain.

With the Varidesk Pro Plus 36, you can easily have two monitors on the top level and your laptop or mouse and keyboard on the bottom level. The bottom level extends out toward you so if you’re using a mouse and keyboard, it doesn’t feel like you’re reaching toward them.

11 Adjustable Height Settings

Typically when you extend standing desks to the max setting, they tend to feel unstable. The Varidesk Pro Plus 36 isn’t like that at all. It offers 11 different height settings for the best ergonomic support regardless of how tall you are.

To adjust the height setting, all that needs to be done is push in a few side paddles which unlock the desk and can be easily moved up and down using their spring assisted feature. Releasing the side paddles locks the desk in place and you’re good to go.

Fully Assembled

When the Pro Plus 36 arrives at your doorstep, it comes in a giant box fully assembled. There is no need to pull out the tools for this one as all you need to do is slide it out of the box and whoosh! It is ready to go.

The desk is quite heavy though. Coming in at 52.15lbs, it is important to have 2 people lift and place on your sitting desk.

About the Varidesk Brand

Started in 2013, VariDesk is now known as Vari – a workspace innovation company. My guess is to grow their brand and not be limited to be known for only desks. This American based company makes its workspace furniture out of their Texas headquarters.

Pros and Cons of the Varidesk Pro Plus 36

As with any product you purchase online, this standing desk comes with its pros and cons. I will now list out each of them below.

Pros

Super Stable
Because of the weight and width of the Varidesk, it will not move off your existing sitting desk. The bottom come with rubber grips to ensure it does not slide around

Adjustable to Several Heights
The 36 in the Varidesk Pro Plus 36 basically means it can go up to 36 inches which makes it a diverse unit.

Comes Pre-Assembled
Although the box it comes in is super heavy (two people required), it is all ready to go as it is pre-assembled. Not like your typical IKEA.

Cons

  • Very Heavy
It takes two people to lift it up onto your sitting desk and can prove to be cumbersome if you want to clean the sitting desk below
  • Limited keyboard and mouse space
Some people find the keyboard and mouse a little too small. This clearly depends on the size of your keyboard though.
  • Heavy Spring Action
Because this is a variable and adjustable desk, it comes spring loaded whereas you can set it down and lift it up. The springs are VERY tight and can feel scary when moving.

Conclusion
